How anti-VEGF medicines work
The medicine is delivered into the vitreous so it can act inside the eye. Anti-VEGF medicines block signals that encourage abnormal blood vessel growth and fluid leakage. This helps control swelling and other changes in certain retinal conditions
The doctor selects the medicine and schedule based on the diagnosis and follow-up findings. OCT may be needed to assess the macula. One injection is often insufficient: further treatment depends on how the eye responds
How to prepare
- Bring OCT scans, previous reports and dates of earlier injections
- Tell the doctor about allergies, current medicines and recent health changes
- Contact the clinic before the procedure if your eye is red or you have signs of infection
After your appointment or procedure
The doctor will explain eye care and your monitoring schedule. Increasing pain, redness, light sensitivity or worsening vision requires an urgent examination, as infection complications need prompt attention
